The Design tools
The rail is short on purpose. Everything you reach for constantly is one tap away, with no scrolling and no hunting — the toolset is deep, but the surface stays calm. What is behind each button is not short at all.

Every rail button is a family
Each button shows the tool you used last from its family, and a small corner mark means there are more inside. Long-press any button and its family fans out:

Tapping runs the tool shown; long-pressing picks a different one, which then becomes the button's face. So the rail slowly arranges itself around how you work.

Note
Point Along Path offers Chaining, on by default. A part outline is rarely one curve — it is straights running into fillets running into more straights — and with chaining on, everything that continues smoothly from the edge you picked counts as one path. A distance longer than that first edge simply carries on into the next piece. Switch it to This curve only when you want the distance measured along the single edge you selected and nowhere else.
Only smooth continuations join. A square corner stops the chain, because the path you meant is the one your eye follows, not every edge that happens to touch.
Note
Join, As-Built Join and Join Origin all start the same way: hover a face and it lights up, and the points that face can join on appear — every corner, the middle of every edge, and the face's own centre. A small ring rides whichever of those the pen is nearest, so you can see which point you are about to take before you take it. Move across the face and the ring moves with you.
Every face offers points, including the one underneath. Orbit below the part and its underside lights up exactly like the top.
Note
Joinery cuts the joints of woodworking into two bodies at once. Machinable Joint takes a driving body and its mate and generates the joint — six types: Rabbet, Tongue & Groove, Stair step, Half lap, Box joint and Blind box joint — with the geometry shaped so a rotating cutter can actually machine it. Both boards are cut to match, except the Rabbet, whose mate simply seats in the step. Explode pulls the assembly apart in the viewport so you can inspect the fit before anything is cut. Solid mode only — a joint needs bodies to cut.
Tip
Analyze is worth exploring before you cut anything. Interference finds bodies that overlap when they should not. Zebra and Curvature Comb show whether surfaces really flow into one another or merely touch. Minimum Radius tells you the smallest internal radius in the part — which is the same thing as the largest cutter that can machine it. Section Analysis cuts the whole view open so you can see inside. Surface modelling — a different rail

Long-press the Design workspace tab to switch between Solid Modeling and Surface Modeling:

The rail changes with the mode, and so do the families inside the buttons that remain.
Gone entirely in Surface mode: Primitive, Hole, Fillet, Shell, Combine, Joinery.
New in Surface mode:

Surfaces are how you build shapes solids cannot state directly — a flowing guitar top, a swept transition, a blended corner. Stitch sews surfaces into a closed skin, and Thicken (in Create) turns that skin into a solid you can machine.
Note
The two modes are the same document, not separate files. Build a surface, stitch it, thicken it, and carry on with solid tools on the result.
Sketching — the 2D toolset
Sketching has its own toolset, and it is the largest of the three. The same long-press-for-family rule applies throughout.

Tip
Fifteen constraints, including Smooth (curvature continuity, not merely tangency) and Symmetric. This is what makes a sketch a parametric sketch rather than a drawing: constrain it properly and it holds its intent when a dimension changes, instead of deforming into something you did not ask for.
Note
Splines come in both flavours. A fit-point spline passes through the points you place; a control-point spline is shaped by a cage that pulls the curve. Every curve in Prime Motion — including lines, arcs and circles — is a NURBS curve underneath, so there is no accuracy cliff between a "simple" shape and a spline.
Bringing in artwork
Insert places existing artwork into a sketch as a canvas you can trace, dimension against, or project onto the model: DXF, SVG, PDF, or an image Canvas, plus Scale to size it against a known dimension.
